Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix (Arizona) as the daughter of Juanita Cordova and Colby Carter. Her father is English as well as Scots Irish Her ancestry is Scots Irish and English and her mother is Mexican and Spanish. One brother, Vincent, and one sister, Pamela, are her siblings. Carter made her public television debut on Lew King's Talent Show at age 5. Carter joined a group called Just Us in high school. The group performed marimba and a conga drum. They also performed on an acoustic and the stand-up bass which was played by a different band member. Lynda began singing in a restaurant at the age of 15. [8] She joined her cousins' group, The Relatives, when she was just 16 years old. Gary Burghoff, actor, was the drummer for The band. The band debuted in Las Vegas at the Sahara Hotel and Casino Lounge. Carter was 21 years old when she first entered the kitchen. After being named "Most Talented", she dropped out to pursue a career in the field of music. Carter auditioned in the year 1970 and was on tour with The Garfin Gathering's bandleader Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first show together was at the Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel that had no sidewalk entrance. Consequently, they played mostly for hotel employees and hotel guests who parked their vehicles in the underground garage. The Garfin Gathering performed shows throughout the Nevada "Silver Circuit" which included in a number of Nevada's casino lounges. Carter made the decision to leave the Garfin Gathering in 1972 to pursue acting and she returned to Arizona.
