Anita Sarkeesian (Canadian-American) is an activist in the field of feminist media as well as a public speaker, and Canadian. She was the creator of Feminist Frequency the website which offers videos and blog posts that analyze gender representations in popular cultural. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning feminist journalist from Canada and a blogger. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which examines female representations in popular culture narratives. Aiming to break down the stereotypes about women and popular culture, she works to raise issues related specifically to the harassment of women and other marginalized classes of the Internet space. Sarkeesian holds a Masters in political and social thinking from York University. As a public speaker, she's extremely sought-after and has given talks at TEDxWomen XOXO, TEDxWomen and United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was a fan of the gender issue and feminist movements since a young age. As of 2009, as she was still enrolled at a university, Sarkeesian founded the website Feminist Frequency.
