Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946 to a humble family of 12 children at one point, realized that she could escape suffering through her vivid imagination. Before she was able to read and write she was making up her own songs. In 8 years, she was playing her first guitar. At age 11 when she was 11, she began singing on Knoxville Tenn's radio station. In the same year, she recorded her first record on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. While still in highschool, she made her name locally but dreamed about an even bigger stage. When she graduated from high school in 1964, she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were the first two albums to chart on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for female singers to join his television show that was syndicated around the same at the same time. Parton signed with RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. Parton quit the Wagoner's band in 1974 after her own songs such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene outsold the collaborations. Parton wrote "I Will Always Love You" to Wagoner shortly after they separated. It was ranked number. This was the first time that a song reached No.
