Lee
Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family with community service. First family he is the youngest of the nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon. They grew up on a family farm near Eufala, Oklahoma. Second football he was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. Three of them made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland and Lombardi Awards. In his three years as an offensive lineman, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. A third scholarship saw him named as a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon earned a degree from the university of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during college. Following graduation Lee Roy relocating to Tampa where he spent nine years playing with the Buccaneers. Three times, he was named All-Pro. He began his business career. The year 1988 was the first time he was working as an Account Relations Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the ten outstanding young people across the country. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in 1975. He was promoted to the assistant director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
